TKWA is committed to extending the scheme to utilise the current spare capacity. We will work with any potential user to establish their needs and the basis supply can be provided.

Pumping capacity is well in excess of current and foreseeable demand. In addition, there is further back up capacity. The reticulation is easily extendable. At present, it is mostly gravity fed from the reservoir in Hall Road. This high point means water could be reticulated from Ohinewai to Mercer on both sides of the Waikato River.

New users pay a one-off “capital contribution” to buy into the existing network and infrastructure. This is based on the negotiated Daily Supply Entitlement (the “DSE”). Should any extension to the reticulation network be required then in the first instance, the capital contribution will be used for that purpose.

See the Supply Network maps on this site which show the possible additional areas that can be serviced. This is indicative as much will depend on the scale of the opportunity. The named extensions indicate the possibilities.

Every user “acquires” a DSE expressed as daily cubic meters. The DSE becomes a property right attached permamently to that property.

It is therefore a valuable asset that is an attractive feature for potential buyers.

Note: A cubic meter is 1,000 litres
